Sales Preparation: From broodmare and weanling to the major Australian yearling sales.
One of the main things we fell in love with about this property from the get-go were the paddocks. They're big, idyllic places for horses with large established trees, along with a mix of flats and hills. The back boundary is the legendary Pages River and Scott's Creek runs through one length creating a perfect natural separation area for the property. The grass is strong and with generous water license and major irrigation established the stock have every chance to flourish and thrive.
To be honest, it's luxe for a 300-acre property, with 18 individual foaling yards and 14 mare and foal boxes supporting it. The facility is monitored 24 hours a day during the foaling season and is fully floodlit with; centered by the night watch building. The paddocks like everything else, are well grassed and flow through to well designed 10 day old paddocks as your foal gets to take the next step.
We take your foal through this early education process in a calm and progressive manner. Following weaning off the mare each mob of weanlings is assigned their own "Granny" to keep order amongst the group and provide a point of reference for behaviour in regards to people, weather and whatever else they come across in the months ahead. Good Grannies are like gold and are usually introduced to the mare and foal paddock 2 – 3 weeks prior to weaning, so the relationship is already established to some degree prior to Mum moving on.
For owners, this is the end of a long road of decision making and investment. We know how essential it is to get a sales prep right, no matter what age the horse is. We fuss and continually tweak everything - from your horses paddocking and feed/supplement program to their individual grooming routine and rugging right down to the staff member who does the most work with it. Our sales preparation is not a one-size-fits-all program, we want each-and-every horse to hit the parade ground well educated, ready for the job and looking like a bride on her wedding day.
